Meccha Chameleon Update Notes: What's New in the Latest Version

The latest Meccha Chameleon update focuses on three things players have been asking for since the last major patch: fresh maps, a fairer detection system, and a round of balance adjustments to team modes. Here's everything that changed.

Two new maps added

Rooftop Garden and Transit Depot join the rotation this update. Rooftop Garden leans heavily on natural cover with dense foliage and uneven lighting, giving hiders more viable colors to work with than most existing maps. Transit Depot is tighter and more industrial, with moving hazards along platform edges that force seekers to split attention between scanning and dodging.

Detection meter rework

The detection meter no longer fills at a flat rate. It now scales with how close a seeker's view is centered on a hider's tile, meaning a glancing pass gives far less exposure than direct, sustained attention. This was the single most requested change from competitive players, who felt the old system punished hiders too harshly for seekers simply passing nearby.

Players who relied on constant micro-repositioning under the old system will want to relearn timing — the new meter rewards holding still through brief, indirect glances.

Balance changes

AreaChange
Team signalsCooldown reduced from 12s to 8s
Seeker scan pulseRadius reduced by 10% on all maps
Round timerExtended by 15 seconds in 6+ player lobbies
Decoy tilesNow visually distinguishable to seekers after a successful catch nearby

What's next

The development team has confirmed a ranked ladder mode is currently in testing, with a planned rollout in a future update. No firm date has been announced yet, but progress will be shared through the blog as it becomes available.
